Hi, I'm Jeremy and I wanted to thank you for visiting Dads Flying Solo. I'd like to tell you a little bit about the site and about me.

I am a single dad with a son called Jamie. He was born in 1998 back when I was married and his mother and I split up about a year later... so I've been at this solo dad game for a while.

I haven't ever re-married but I have had a couple of relationships since. Most of my partners have had kids,  but one I was with for about 5 years didn't.

My ex-wife and I have managed to form a pretty good working relationship around our son. Both of our mothers live near us and are very involved - they give us a lot of support.

I get to have Jamie nearly half the time and see him pretty much every day.

So, overall I'm very lucky. And at the same time, I keep coming up against challenges, finding things I don't know or don't know how to do. Often I wonder if I am doing the right thing by Jamie.

That's what got me started thinking about Dads Flying Solo... I got pretty frustrated that almost all the sites I found on parenting where almost completely "chick focused". I asked "why isn't there anything around that talks to single dads?"

Probably because we don't really talk to each other that much .

That's when I decided to create Dads Flying Solo... to bring together all the information and resources that I always wish I had access to. To provide a safe space where solo dads can ask for help and support or get their questions answered. Not a love-in but certainly something positive and supportive.
