Ingredients

 

  • 500g diced veal
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic gloves, crushed
  • 1-2 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1 425g can chopped tomatoes
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 potatoes, diced
  • 2 cups beef stock


Method

 

  1. Put veal and flour, and 1 tbsp paprika in a plastic bag, and shake well to coat. Remove any excess flour when done.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large, deep pan, then brown meat in batches, before lifting onto a plate.
  3. Add remaining oil to pan, cook onion, garlic and paprika for 5 minutes, until soft and fragrant
  4. Return meat to pan, with tomatoes and carrot, potatoes cover and cook for 10 minutes
  5. Pour in stock and season with salt and pepper
  6. Simmer over very low heat for one and a half hours or until meat is very soft
