Ingredients
- 500g diced veal
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 2 garlic gloves, crushed
- 1-2 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
- 1 425g can chopped tomatoes
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 potatoes, diced
- 2 cups beef stock
Method
- Put veal and flour, and 1 tbsp paprika in a plastic bag, and shake well to coat. Remove any excess flour when done.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large, deep pan, then brown meat in batches, before lifting onto a plate.
- Add remaining oil to pan, cook onion, garlic and paprika for 5 minutes, until soft and fragrant
- Return meat to pan, with tomatoes and carrot, potatoes cover and cook for 10 minutes
- Pour in stock and season with salt and pepper
- Simmer over very low heat for one and a half hours or until meat is very soft
